🇬🇧 Badminton meaning: English Vocabulary Flash Card

noun
“Oops, the video you wanted took a vacation. Here’s a random one that didn’t!”
Badminton is a sport where two or four people stand on opposite sides of a net and use rackets to hit a small object called a shuttlecock, or birdie, back and forth. The shuttlecock is light and often has feathers or a feather shape, so it flies differently from a ball. Players try to hit the shuttlecock over the net and land it on the other side so the other team can’t hit it back in time.

💬 Example Sentences

Our badminton game ended when the shuttlecock flew into space, or at least onto the roof.
I yelled “Fear my badminton skills!” and then tripped over my own shoelace before serving.
In invisible badminton, we pretend there’s a shuttlecock and argue about who missed it first.
I tried to play badminton, but I missed the shuttlecock and high-fived the air instead.
Grandpa said he was a badminton champion, then swung his racket and hit his own head.

📖 Mini Story

In the park two kids play badminton. One holds a badminton racket and runs. The feather ball flies over the high net in the sun. They laugh and hit the feather ball in a fast badminton game. A dog runs and watches the badminton. At the end they hug and say, "Good badminton!"
