📖 A Busy Day at Green Meadow Farm
It was early morning at Green Meadow Farm. The sun was just rising, and the animals were starting their day.
Lucy, the farmer’s daughter, went to the big field first. There stood a gentle cow, chewing slowly. Next to her, a small calf was drinking milk. Lucy stroked the calf’s soft head before moving on.
In the muddy pen, a pig rolled from side to side. “Good morning, pigs!” Lucy called, throwing them some apples. The pigs grunted happily and pushed each other to get the fruit.
By the chicken coop, a proud rooster stood tall, crowing loudly. A plump hen scratched the ground, and a fluffy chick followed her closely. There were many other chickens clucking and pecking at the corn Lucy had brought.
In the stable, a tall brown horse neighed when Lucy came in. She brushed its mane and gave it some hay. Beside the horse’s stall was a friendly donkey that always liked a pat on the nose.
Not far away, a group of white sheep grazed on the grass. A playful lamb jumped around, running between the older sheep. Lucy also fed the goat, which stood on a rock as if it was the king of the field.
Down by the pond, a duck paddled in the water. Behind it swam several ducklings. A large goose honked loudly, as if telling Lucy to hurry with the food.
Near the barn, the turkeys strutted about with their feathers puffed up. They made funny gobbling sounds that made Lucy laugh. A little rabbit hopped by the barn door, sniffing for carrots.
Lucy went back to each animal again before lunchtime. She gave fresh water to the cow and the calf, more apples to the pig, and more corn to the chickens. The rooster crowed again, the hen clucked softly to her chick, and the horse and donkey shared a pile of hay.
The sheep were now resting, but the lamb was still skipping about. The goat tried to steal some grass from the sheep, but they didn’t seem to mind. The duck splashed in the pond while the goose watched from the bank. The turkeys wandered towards the field, and the rabbit disappeared into the long grass.
By the end of the day, Lucy was tired but happy. Every cow, pig, chicken, horse, sheep, goat, duck, turkey, donkey, goose, rabbit, rooster, hen, calf, lamb, and chick had been fed and cared for twice.
As the sun went down, the animals grew quiet. The rooster gave one last crow, the hen tucked her chick under her wing, and the cow lay down beside her calf. Green Meadow Farm was peaceful once again.
