Volume is the amount of space inside something. If you could fill an object with water, sand, or air, the volume tells you how much of that stuff would fit inside. A big box has a large volume because it can hold a lot, and a tiny box has a small volume because it can only hold a little. We measure volume with units like cubic centimeters, liters, or milliliters to say exactly how much space is inside an object.
