Stock is all the goods a shop has ready to sell, or all of one type of thing they have. If a shop has 20 toy cars to sell, those 20 toy cars are its toy car stock. When people buy things and the shop runs out, we say the shop is “out of stock,” because it has no more of that item left to sell.
