A squire is a young noble person, usually a boy or teenager, who works as a knight’s helper while training to become a knight himself. The squire helps the knight put on armor, takes care of the knight’s horse, carries weapons, and learns about courage, manners, and how to fight fairly. If the squire works hard and proves to be brave and loyal, he can later be made a knight.
