🇬🇧 Microorganism meaning: English Vocabulary Flash Card
noun
A microorganism is a living creature that is so tiny you cannot see it with just your eyes. You need a special tool called a microscope, which makes tiny things look big, to see it. Microorganisms can be bacteria, some types of fungi, or very small plants and animals that live almost everywhere—on your skin, in your mouth, in soil, in water, and even in your stomach. Some microorganisms help us, like the ones that help digest our food, and some can make us sick, so washing hands and keeping clean is important.
If a microorganism wrote a story about us, we’d be the enormous, clumsy monsters who spill juice everywhere.
When I sneeze, I picture every microorganism yelling, “Whee, we’re flying first class!”

My toothbrush fell on the floor, and I could just hear the microorganisms shouting, “New vacation home!”
My brother said he wouldn’t share his fries, so I whispered that a microorganism probably already licked them first.
She peered through a tiny lens and gasped: a single microorganism spun like a bright dancer. Another microorganism chased a speck; a third microorganism pushed a leaf fragment across the drop. One more microorganism blinked. Each microorganism lived in the clear world, busy and small. She lowered the slide, smiled, and whispered to the pond, "You are full of life."
