🇬🇧 Flea meaning: English Vocabulary Flash Card

noun
A flea is a tiny, flat, brown insect that lives in the fur or feathers of animals and drinks their blood by biting them. Fleas are so small you can hardly see them, but they have super strong legs that help them jump very high and very far, like tiny itchy superheroes. They can make animals (and people) feel very itchy, so we try to keep them away with baths and special medicine.

💬 Example Sentences

The flea complained that my socks were ‘too smelly’ and went back to the dog.
Our cat thinks she has a personal trainer, but it’s just a flea making her do scratch exercises.
The flea said, “I’m not annoying, I’m providing free cardio with all that scratching.”
The dog looked offended when the flea called his fur a ‘crowded apartment building.’
Mom said I had a flea bite, so I checked the dog for a tiny vampire with a trampoline.

📖 Mini Story

A small brown dog slept, then woke scratching as a flea jumped from fur. One flea bit the dog's ear; the dog yelped. The owner saw the flea hop again, squashed one flea, brushed the coat, and found another flea hiding. At last the dog relaxed, tail wagging after the last flea was gone.
