🇬🇧 Bruise meaning: English Vocabulary Flash Card
noun
A bruise is a dark, sometimes purple or blue mark that appears on your skin after you bump into something or get hit gently or hard. The skin on top doesn’t open or bleed, but the tiny blood vessels under the skin break and leak a little blood, which makes the area change color. At first a bruise can look purple or blue and feel sore when you touch it. After a few days, it may turn green, yellow, or brown as your body cleans it up. Bruises usually go away on their own, and they are a common kind of minor injury, especially when kids play, run, and climb a lot.
