🇬🇧 Band meaning: English Vocabulary Flash Card

noun
A band is a fixed stretch of numbers or amounts that goes from a lower limit to an upper limit, like saying, “The temperature will stay between 20 and 25 degrees.” That space between 20 and 25 is a band. We use bands to group things by how big, how loud, how fast, or how strong they are. Instead of looking at every tiny number, we put them into neat bands, such as a band for low scores, a band for medium scores, and a band for high scores.

💬 Example Sentences

Our PE teacher showed a heart‑rate band for healthy exercise, and my heart zoomed straight into the “running from wasps” band.
The teacher drew a neat little band for normal behavior, and our class launched itself bravely outside that band before 9 a.m.
The sound chart had a band for normal talking and another band for “kids seeing pizza,” which was off the top.
We measured a temperature band for water from cold to hot, and somehow my brother found a way to be dramatic in every band.
The game had a level band for beginners, but I died so fast they considered adding a new “are you okay?” band.
