📖 A Merry Frosted Christmas Eve

Snow had fallen all day, leaving a thin layer of frost on every roof and window. The little village glowed with lantern light, each decoration carefully placed, from wreaths of holly on the doors to a sparkling bow tied on the lamppost outside the square. The atmosphere was seasonal, filled with warmth despite the cold air.

In the heart of the village stood St. Andrew’s church, where the choir was rehearsing carols. Their voices carried through the night, spreading cheer and filling the air with the true spirit of Christmas. Children gathered near the entrance, their cheeks red from the wind, laughing with merry delight as they waited for their turn to sing.

Inside the church, long tables were laid out for the Christmas Eve feast. At the centre, stood a steaming pudding, rich with spice and flame, a symbol of joy and tradition. Each table bore a cozy charm, with sprigs of pine tucked into napkin rings and small ornaments scattered between the candles. The entire hall glistened, a reflection of the community’s seasonal togetherness.

Not far away, in a little wooden workshop, Mr. Thompson was finishing the final touches on hand-carved toys. He tied each one with a red bow, humming softly along with the distant choir. His small space smelled of sawdust and pine, yet it radiated a cozy comfort that matched the festive mood of the night. To him, the greatest joy was seeing children’s faces light up when they received his work.

Later, villagers poured into the square, bringing more food, laughter, and decoration. Strings of lights wound around the great pine tree, every branch weighed with ornaments and ribbons of holly. The children ran in circles, their scarves trailing as they shouted with merry laughter. The choir began once more, their voices rising above the chatter, binding everyone in the spirit of song.

As the feast began, the pudding was brought out again, flames dancing as the crowd clapped in unison. Cups were raised, and cheer echoed against the night sky. Though the air outside was sharp with frost, within the gathering there was nothing but warmth.

The village had always celebrated Christmas in this way, each generation passing on the traditions of ornament, pudding, and song. Yet every year felt new, because the joy was always genuine, and the spirit of kindness was always present. Whether in the bustling workshop, the glowing church, or under the great pine tree, the people knew they were part of something lasting.

As the stars shone above, the villagers stood together, hands clasped, their hearts light. And in that moment, surrounded by holly, decoration, and the sound of the choir, there was no doubt—it was truly a merry, seasonal night, one that would be remembered with warmth for years to come.
