📖 A Hot Day at the Beach

It was the first weekend of summer, and the sun was shining brightly in the sky. The day was so hot that Emily and her brother Jack decided the best thing to do was go to the beach. They put on their shorts, found their favourite hat and sunglasses, and packed a big bag full of fun things to take with them.

At the beach, the golden sand was warm under their feet. Jack shouted, “Let’s play a game!” He drew a line in the sand and started a race towards the water. Emily laughed and ran as fast as she could, but the sun made her feel tired quickly. The water looked so cool and fresh that she couldn’t wait to swim.

After a long swim, they came back to their blanket for a picnic. Their mother opened a basket filled with sandwiches, fruit, and cold lemonade. Emily took a big drink of the sweet lemonade and sighed happily. “This is so good on a hot day!” she said. Jack agreed and asked for another drink.

Then came the best part—ice cream! The man with the ice cream cart was walking across the sand, and Emily ran to buy a chocolate one while Jack chose vanilla. The ice cream melted quickly in the sun, and they had to lick it fast before it dripped on their shorts.

Later, they decided to walk to the pool near the edge of the beach. It wasn’t as big as the sea, but the water was calm and clear. Emily put on her sunglasses again and slid into the pool. Jack tried to play by splashing her, but she laughed and splashed him back.

When they grew tired, they returned to their blanket and lay down under a big hat that their mother had set up like a little tent. The sun was still high, and the air was still hot, but with the hat and their cool drinks, it felt perfect.

The whole family joined in for more fun. They built castles in the sand, tossed a ball near the water, and even had another little picnic with biscuits and fresh fruit. As the evening came, the sun started to fall, and the sky turned orange and pink.

“Today was the best,” Jack said. “We had the sea, the pool, ice cream, lemonade, and so much fun.” Emily nodded with a big smile. “I think the sun makes everything better—well, as long as we have sunglasses and a hat too!”

And with that, they packed up their things, brushed the sand off their feet, and went home, dreaming about their next hot summer adventure.
