📖 The March Rainbow Party

It was the middle of March, and the small town of Kilbridge was getting ready for its biggest day of the year—St Patrick’s Day. Everywhere you looked, there was something green. Children wore green scarves, men wore tall green hats, and women pinned little clovers to their coats for luck.

On the main street, the villagers raised the Irish flag, its bright colours moving proudly in the wind. A band was already playing lively music, and people clapped along with a smile on their faces.

At the centre of it all was Liam, a cheerful boy with freckles and a tall green hat. He held a shiny coin in his hand. “This is for luck,” he said to his friend Anna, showing her the gold piece. “If we follow the rainbow, maybe we’ll find more!”

Anna laughed. “Or maybe just more fun,” she replied, giving him a wide smile.

The two children joined the parade. They walked past people dancing, laughing, and enjoying the party. Some adults raised glasses of beer while singing along to the music, while children waved little paper flags. Everyone was full of joy, because on this day, every Irish heart felt proud.

Suddenly, a bright rainbow appeared in the sky. Liam grabbed Anna’s hand. “Come on! Let’s see where it ends!” he cried. They ran past the crowd, across the field, and towards the glowing colours.

At the end of the rainbow, near an old stone wall, they found a small pot. Inside were shining gold coins. The children gasped. “It’s real!” Anna whispered. “The stories were true.”

But just then, a tiny man in a little green hat appeared, holding a fiddle. “That’s my gold,” he said with a grin. “But don’t worry—I’ll share if you can win a dance against me.”

The leprechaun began to play fast music, his feet moving quicker than the eye could see. Liam and Anna looked at each other, then jumped onto the old stone platform. They began to dance, clapping and stamping their shoes as the fun grew wilder. Their laughter rang through the air, and even the leprechaun gave a broad smile.

At last, the little man stopped and bowed. “Well done! You brought more joy than I could. Here—take some coins for your town.” He tipped a handful of gold into Anna’s hands before vanishing into the rainbow.

That evening, the villagers held the biggest party Kilbridge had ever seen. They raised their Irish flags, sang to the music, and shared the story of the magical treasure.

And Liam and Anna? They sat side by side, still wearing their green hats, knowing that the real luck of the day wasn’t in the gold, but in the smiles, the fun, and the happy Irish spirit of March.
