📖 The Garden of a Thousand Colours

One sunny morning, Oliver and Lucy walked into their grandmother’s garden. It was no ordinary garden—it was famous in their village for its magical colours. Every flower, leaf, and stone seemed painted by an artist with the brightest shades.

First, they saw tall roses, some red like fire and others soft pink like strawberry cream. Next to them grew tulips, some yellow as sunshine and some orange like the evening sky. A bed of violets shone purple, deep and rich, while the grass around them was a fresh green, glowing in the light.

Lucy pointed to a small pond. The water reflected the clear blue of the sky, while swans floated across it, leaving ripples that looked almost cyan, so bright and clear it was hard to believe it was real. “It’s like the sea lives in the garden,” she whispered.

Near the path, they saw a statue painted gold and silver. It showed two birds flying together, and when the sun touched it, the whole garden seemed to sparkle. Oliver laughed. “It looks like treasure from a fairy tale!”

Not far from the statue was a patch of flowers in soft beige, gentle against the brighter colours. Behind them stood an old tree with a brown trunk and wide branches. A blackbird perched on one branch, its feathers shiny and black against the bright blossoms. Next to it, a butterfly with wings as white as snow landed on a daisy.

Suddenly, Lucy gasped. “Look at that!” In the corner of the garden grew a strange flower with petals that shimmered magenta. She had never seen such a colour before. It seemed to dance between red and purple, glowing brighter every time the wind moved it.

As they walked further, they found a stone bench painted gray, cool in the shadow of the tree. They sat down to rest, watching the garden shine with its mix of red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, pink, brown, black, white, gray, beige, cyan, gold, silver, and magenta.

“It feels like the garden is alive,” said Oliver. “Every colour is part of its magic.”

Grandmother appeared with a smile. “This garden has a secret,” she said softly. “When you notice every shade—from the simplest red and blue to the rare cyan and magenta—you learn to see the beauty in everything, even the small things.”

Oliver and Lucy looked around one more time. They saw the red roses, the green grass, the gold statue, the silver birds, the soft beige petals, the bright cyan pond, and the glowing magenta flower.

They both nodded. “It’s true,” Lucy said. “The world is more beautiful when you look with all your colours.”
