📖 The Day of Too Many Clothes

On Saturday morning, Emma stood in front of her wardrobe with a frown. She had promised to meet her friends at the park, but she simply could not decide what to wear.

First, she picked a blue shirt and black pants, thinking they looked smart. But then she remembered it was sunny and warm. “Too hot for this,” she muttered, pulling them off. She tried a red dress instead, twirling in front of the mirror. The dress was nice, but maybe it was too fancy for the park.

She reached for a yellow skirt and a white t-shirt. Together they looked cheerful. She slipped on her favourite shoes and striped socks, only to laugh when she realised the colours didn’t match. “I look like a walking rainbow,” she said.

Emma sat down and thought. Maybe a light jacket would help, in case the wind picked up. She grabbed a green jacket, but then spotted her wide-brimmed hat hanging by the door. “Yes, a hat is perfect for sunshine,” she decided, plopping it on her head.

Still unsure, she pulled on her jeans. They felt comfortable, but as soon as she sat down, she thought of her shorts. “Jeans or shorts? Oh dear!” She swapped them back and forth until the floor was covered in clothes.

Her mother peeked in and laughed. “Emma, your room looks like a shop! Put on your coat if you’re cold, or wear your swimsuit if you want to go swimming. Just choose something!”

Emma groaned. She even tried her winter boots with her summer shorts for a silly look. “No, no, that won’t do,” she sighed, kicking the boots off. She tried her pink sweater, but after two minutes she was too warm again.

Finally, she looked at herself in the mirror. She wore her t-shirt, her shorts, her light jacket, her comfy shoes, and her favourite hat. She grabbed her glasses so she could see properly and tucked her swimsuit into her bag just in case the park had a pool.

When she arrived, her friends burst out laughing. “Emma, did you bring your whole wardrobe?” asked Oliver, pointing to the bulging bag filled with a skirt, a dress, pants, a coat, boots, another sweater, and extra socks.

“Yes,” Emma admitted with a grin. “But at least I’m ready for any kind of weather!”

The group laughed, and Emma knew she had made the right choice—not just of clothes, but of bringing her cheerful spirit to the park.
