📖 The Long Airport Journey
Amelia held her bag tightly as the plane began to land. The captain’s voice came through the speakers with a calm announcement: “Ladies and gentlemen, we will land in London shortly. Please wait for further information.”
Amelia smiled, but she also felt nervous. It was her first time flying alone. She had to go through many steps at the airport before she could finally see her cousin.
When the plane stopped, the captain gave another announcement. Everyone had to wait before they could walk out. Amelia looked around and could see other passengers queue in the aisle. She took a deep breath.
At the airport, big signs gave information about where to go. First, she followed the line for visa checks. The officer asked to see her passport and visa. Amelia was polite and answered every question. The officer smiled and said she could go through. She felt so happy that she almost forgot her bag.
Next came customs and security. Amelia had to wait in a long queue. At security, another officer told her to put her bag on the belt for control. She watched as her things passed through the machine. She was nervous, but the officer simply nodded and waved her on.
At customs, a different officer asked if she had anything to declare. Amelia shook her head. The officer checked her bag quickly and let her go. She was relieved. Going through customs was easier than she had thought.
After all the checks, Amelia was very tired. She needed to eat something and drink some water. She found a small café in the arrivals hall. She ordered a sandwich to eat and some juice to drink. Sitting at the table, she could finally relax.
But suddenly, there was another announcement on the loudspeaker. A voice said, “Passengers, please note that baggage from Flight 202 is now at Belt 5.” Amelia jumped up. She had almost forgotten her suitcase! She quickly walked to Belt 5 and joined another queue. She had to wait again, but soon she could see her bright red suitcase coming towards her. She grabbed it and smiled.
Finally, Amelia was ready to leave the airport. She followed the signs and saw her cousin waiting outside. The long journey through visa, customs, security, and every queue was over. She was tired, but also proud.
As they walked out together, Amelia laughed and said, “I just want to eat and drink again, and then maybe I can sleep for a week!”
Her cousin smiled and replied, “Welcome to London. The adventure has only just begun.”
