📖 Tom’s Big Picnic

Tom woke up early on Saturday with a big idea—he was going to make the best picnic ever. The sun was shining, and the garden looked perfect for a day outside.

First, he made a list of what to bring. He sliced fresh bread and put it in a basket. Then he cooked rice in a small pot and placed it in a container. “Rice salad, maybe?” he thought with a smile.

For the main meal, he fried some fish until it was golden. He also boiled an egg and made a warm pot of vegetable soup for later. “Soup will be nice if it gets a bit windy,” he said to himself.

Tom didn’t forget the extras. He packed a block of cheese, a bottle of cold milk, and a small dish of creamy butter for spreading on the bread. He added two shiny apples for something fresh and sweet.

Then he roasted some chicken pieces, boiled a little pasta, and baked a small cake—just enough for dessert. “A picnic without cake would be sad,” he decided.

He also chopped vegetables for a colourful salad and placed a pot of yogurt in the cooler. For variety, he made a sandwich with sausage and cheese. “That’s everything,” he said, looking at the table full of food.

When his friends arrived—Anna, Ben, and Lucy—they were amazed. “Tom, did you make all of this?” Anna asked. “Yes,” Tom laughed, “and I hope you’re hungry!”

They laid a big blanket under a tree and started eating. First, they had bread with butter, cheese, and slices of apple. Then came the chicken, rice, and salad. Ben loved the fish, while Lucy enjoyed the warm soup with a piece of fresh bread.

For drinks, they had cool milk, and for dessert, they shared the soft cake and some sweet yogurt with fresh fruit. Anna took the sandwich and said, “The sausage makes this perfect!”

The afternoon passed with laughter, games, and stories. Even when they were full, they still nibbled on more pasta, another slice of cake, and a bit more cheese.

When the sun began to set, Tom packed the leftovers—some salad, a little rice, one egg, and half a sandwich—so nothing would go to waste.

“It was the best picnic ever,” Lucy said as they waved goodbye. Tom smiled, thinking about how a basket of simple things—bread, milk, chicken, apple, and even sausage—could make a day so special.

And he decided that next weekend, he might just do it all again.
