Emma had just started a new job in a small office in town. It was very different from her old work at the local shop, where she used to sell fruit and vegetables every day. Now she was learning how to talk to customers on the phone and write emails about the company’s products.
Her boss was Mr Clarke, a kind but serious man. He told her, “If you help the customers and answer their questions, they will buy more of our products.” Emma nodded and promised to do her best.
On her first morning, there was a meeting in the big office. Everyone sat around the table while Mr Clarke explained the new plan. “We want to sell more products online. Each of you will meet with a customer this week and try to understand what they really need.” Emma listened carefully. She wanted to do well in her new job.
Later that day, she went back to her desk and answered the phone. A customer wanted to buy one of their products but wasn’t sure which one was better. Emma decided to talk slowly and clearly, and she asked questions to help the person. In the end, the customer chose the right product and said, “Thank you! You’ve been very helpful.” Emma felt proud.
At lunchtime, she walked past her old shop. She remembered how simple life had been there—just to sell fruit, to pay the bills, and to earn some money. Now things seemed bigger. She was working in an office, having meetings, and even learning about how the bank worked with the company’s money. It felt exciting, but also a little scary.
That afternoon, Emma had to meet another customer face-to-face. She carried some products from the store room and showed them one by one. The customer asked many questions, but Emma stayed calm. She explained carefully, and at the end, the customer decided to buy several things.
When Emma returned to the office, Mr Clarke was waiting. He smiled. “Good work, Emma. The customer was happy. I will pay you your bonus at the end of the month.” Emma felt her face grow warm. She was glad her boss had noticed her effort.
That evening, Emma went to the bank to check her account. She thought about how she used to worry about money when she worked in the shop. Now she had more chances to learn, to grow, and to earn.
As she walked home, Emma thought about her day. She had talked to many people, joined a meeting, learned about products, and even helped someone buy the right thing. Her new job was not always easy, but she was starting to enjoy it.
She smiled to herself. Sometimes a little change in work could open the door to a much bigger future.
